Michael Clayton, Executive Director
Michael Clayton is an accomplished and dedicated leader in the field of sanitary sewer services. With a profound commitment to advancing wastewater engineering and effectively managing public sector teams, Michael Clayton has made an indelible mark on the wastewater sector.
Michael's educational journey began at the University of Missouri at Rolla and continued at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He has since pursued graduate-level courses in public administration to further enhance his skillset.
Michael's professional journey began in 1991 at the Arkansas Department of Transportation, where he worked in geotechnical and construction fields. Starting in 1994, Michael served as the City Engineer for the City of Sherwood for over 14 years before opening a private Civil Engineering consulting firm. He joined North Little Rock Wastewater Utility in July of 2014, where he became a pivotal part of the engineering team until he was appointed as the Executive Director in February of 2021. Michael has excelled in overseeing various initiatives, such as residential and commercial developments, sewer system studies, and infrastructure development.
To stay at the forefront of his field, Michael participates in the wider wastewater management community. He attends and speaks at seminars and continuing education programs, and actively engages local issues and government organizations. He is an influential figure within the Arkansas Water and Wastewater Manager’s Association, where he has chaired committees and served as the 2022–2023 President.
